Located in the northeast of Makkah, this place is home to a mosque built before the 9th century CE. The people of Makkah perform umrah from there. The Prophet performed umrah from this place after the Battle of Ta’if, and he stayed there after returning from the Battle of Hunayn and Awtas in 630 CE, where he distributed the spoils of battle. Anas bin Malik was asked: “How many times did the Prophet perform the hajj?” He answered: “Once, and he made the umrah four times: the Umrah of Dhū’l-Qiʿda, the Umrah of al-Hudaybiyya, the Umrah of his Hajj, and the Umrah of al-Jiʿrana, when he divided the spoils of Hunayn.”
