In recognition of the need for having a scientific center dedicated to documenting, studying, and preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, as well as conducting research, studies, and scientific meetings to serve Makkah, the holy sites, and Islamic historical locations (past, present, and future), the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz (may God protect him) issued an order to establish a center focused on the history of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, entrusting King Abdul-Aziz Foundation to carry out this task. The Makkah History Center is based in Makkah and features exhibitions of photographs and books that narrate the history of Makkah and the holy sites.
