In 1345 AH, King Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Rahman Al Saud (may Allah have mercy on him) gave orders for the construction of a public drinking fountain for Zamzam water. In 1346 AH, he ordered the construction of a second fountain, followed by the restoration, cleaning, and covering of the Zamzam well. In 1427 AH, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) initiated a purification plant for Zamzam water to preserve its unique properties. The project included a filling station, transportation lines, an automated control and monitoring system, and additional facilities. Since his ascension to the throne, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz has pledged to continue of this project.
