In mid-1346 AH, King Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Rahman Al Saud (may Allah have mercy on him) issued an order to establish a dedicated facility for producing the Kiswa (cover) of the Kaaba. The factory’s development continued until it was renovated and modernized, and reopened in 1397 AH. Departments of the Complex: The complex comprises several departments, the most important of which are: Belt Department Sewing Department Dyeing Department Printing Department Mechanical Weaving Department Hand Weaving Department Laboratory Department More than 200 qualified and trained Saudi workers operate in these departments. Alongside producing the Kiswa of the Holy Kaaba annually, the complex also manufactures the inner Kiswa of the Kaaba, the inner Kiswa of the Sacred Prophet’s Chamber, and the flag of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, embroidered and printed in accordance with the Law of the Flag of the Kingdom. Visiting Hours: The complex welcomes Muslim visitors for a unique learning experience in weaving and embroidering the Kaaba’s Kiswa, from Monday to Thursday, between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
