Located at the foot of Mount Thabir, overlooking the Jamarat courtyards [sāhāt] in Mina, at the site of the Pledge of ʿAqaba. This is where the Anṣār pledged their allegiance to the Prophet in the presence of his uncle al-ʿAbbas ibn ʿAbd al-Muttalib. This pledge led to the Prophet’s Hijra to Madinah. The Caliph Abu Jaʿfar al-Mansur built a mosque at the site of the pledge in 761 CE. This mosque has been maintained, restored, and cared for during the Saudi era, with its most recent development being part of Prince Muḥammad bin Salman’s project to develop the historic mosques.
